From 1 October we will be at The Stack in Amsterdam. By the end of the year, between 400 and 500 members will be working in the building: founders, engineers and AI companies, most of them building products.
We are there for a different reason than most of them. Everyone else in the building is building AI. We build the people who have to work with it. As far as we can tell, we are the only capability building partner in the house, and that is exactly why we wanted to be there.
Before this, we sat at the AI Foundry on Parnassusweg, right next to the people who later started The Stack. That period taught us something we still use: the distance between a company building an AI product and an organisation trying to adopt one is mostly a matter of who is in the room. One of our largest programmes today started as a conversation in that building, in a working group where nobody was selling anything.
That is the value we are after again. Our content developers get to look over the shoulder of people shipping AI weekly, instead of reading about it. When a course covers agents, governance or evaluation, we would rather have it checked by someone who runs it in production.
The other half of this is ours to contribute. We work with large organisations on data and AI literacy, we run roundtables for data and AI leaders, and this summer we hosted a data dinner for around fifty of them a short walk from the new building. That network is corporate, and it is exactly the network most of the builders at The Stack are trying to reach.
So we intend to bring our clients into the building. Roundtables, sessions and learner cohorts that come to Amsterdam for a couple of days of hands on work, in a place where the tools they are learning about are being built one floor away. A learner who tries an AI governance tool and then meets the team that built it takes something home that no slide achieves.
To be clear for anyone planning a visit: our base remains the Jaarbeurs Innovation Mile in Utrecht, on the sixth floor of the Beatrixgebouw. The Stack is an addition. Part of the team will work from Amsterdam, part from Utrecht, and our clients in both cities keep the address they already know.
